On January 8-11, the Gardening Competition of 2021-2022 Professional Skills Competition for Vocational College Students in Guangdong Province was held at Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Trade. 60 contestants from 30 vocational colleges in Guangdong Province participated in the competition. The gardening team composed of Wang Pengfei and Luo Zhipeng, under the guidance of two teachers Liu Xuejun and Huang Hui from the School of Construction Engineering, performed well and won the first prize in the competition. The gardening competition takes “garden construction” as the carrier, corresponding to the core competence of garden construction in landscape architecture design. It is a test of both skills and physical capability. Materials for the competition weigh more than ten tons. Within 22 hours, contestants need to complete everything from laying flower beds and landscape walls, to paving garden roads, making wooden platforms, then to creating small pools and falling water, and finally to build a garden of 49 square meters with all kinds of plants, with the error of size and elevation to be controlled within 2 mm.
