Spring Semester Begins as Scheduled! Online Teaching Launched Comprehensively at SZPT

The epidemic could not stop the beginning of the spring semester at Shenzhen Polytechnic. On February 28, SZPT’s online teaching for the spring semester was launched as scheduled!

Good preparation and unified deployment

Immediately after the Spring Festival, Shenzhen Polytechnic held several meetings on the epidemic prevention and control and the preparation for the spring semester in accordance with the requirements of the higher education authorities, and formulated online teaching plans and campus epidemic emergency plans. On February 19, Shenzhen Polytechnic strictly followed Shenzhen’s latest epidemic prevention and control decision and deployment by fully entering the stage of online teaching implementation, releasing theOnline Teaching Implementation Plan for Spring Semester of Shenzhen Polytechnic, and getting ready in advance for course delivery scheduling, selection of teaching platform and live broadcast mode, lesson preparation, online trial class, teaching supervision, network security and other aspects to ensure that the online courses can be delivered wherever practical and as smoothly as possible.This semester, nearly 6,000 courses (including optional and extended courses) are offered for a total of 560 non-graduating classes, and on the first day of the spring semester, more than 900 courses started online teaching.

“Classes are suspended, but teaching, learning and management never stop!” Shenzhen Polytechnic attaches great importance to the quality and effect of online teaching, and has arranged first-day synchronous class tour and normal class attendance for both online and offline teaching, with an expectation to supervise the course resources, the achievement of teaching plans and teaching objectives, online public opinions and student opinions and other aspects. At 08:30 am on February 28, Yang Xinbin, Chairman of Board of Shenzhen Polytechnic, Xu Jianling, President of Shenzhen Polytechnic, Li Yue, Vice President of Shenzhen Polytechnic, and leaders from relevant functional departments, including Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Student Affairs, Quality Assurance Center, Education Technology and Information Center, etc., conducted synchronous class tours inside and outside campus through SZPT iStudy Platform and Classroom Recording & Broadcasting System.

SZPT leaders randomly selected more than 10 courses online, includingWeb Design and Layout,Artificial Intelligence Application,Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Basic Law Education,Business Etiquette and Communication, etc. They affirmed the orderly online teaching and the efforts of teachers in preparing lessons, hoped that teachers could further enrich the interaction between teachers and students, strengthen the management of teaching process and improve the learning challenge according to the characteristics of online teaching, and required all teaching departments to summarize and exchange online teaching experience through class tour to ensure the quality of online teaching and learning.

In order to strengthen the deep integration of information technology and education, both course construction and teaching platform construction have been carried out at Shenzhen Polytechnic in the past two years. On the one hand, develop a number of high-quality courses and teaching resources by carrying out the “Gold Class” construction project in an all-round way. On the other hand, support course construction and online teaching by building the “SZPT iStudy” teaching platform that integrates online course construction and management system, teaching management system, course interaction system, mobile learning system, big data statistics and analysis system, and teaching resource system. At present, more than 2,800 school-based courses are under construction or have been completed on the “SZPT iStudy” platform, which is deployed on the private cloud of Shenzhen Polytechnic, providing strong support for the smooth implementation of online teaching in this semester.
