On September 9, 2024, the UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET at Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) successfully conducted a leadership training session for a visiting delegation from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore. The training, led by Professor YANG Wenming, coordinator of the UNESCO Chair, focused on digital transformation in TVET governance.

The distinguished participants from NIE included 12 middle managers in educational institutions, specializing in various areas such as Physical Education and Co-curricular Activities, Character and Citizenship Education, and Student Well-Being. Their study trips to SZPU aimed to enhance perspectives on education innovation and professional development.

Professor YANG Wenming's presentation, titled "Digital Transformation: An Emerging Scenario for TVET Governance," provided an in-depth analysis of the drivers, definition, and solutions of digital transformation in TVET. He first addressed how significant digital transformation was in education today, by outlining drivers including the digital divide, global digital strategies, societal evolvement, industrial revolutions, digital skills needs, etc. He then proposed a systematic methodology of digital transformation at the institutional level, which covered various aspects such as the leader mindset, infrastructures, teaching and learning, research innovation, etc. Finally, he shared the practice of SZPU and showcased how digital transformation was implemented in TVET.

The training received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the participants. They appreciated the practical insights into permeating digital transformation into TVET governance and curriculum development. This training session not only equipped the NIE leaders with the knowledge and strategies to lead digital transformation in their institutions but also fostered a global network of TVET professionals committed to quality education. The UNESCO Chair on Digitalization in TVET at SZPU would continue to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between skill needs and educational delivery in the digital world, ensuring that TVET institutions remain at the forefront of innovation and excellence.
