SZPT Wushu athletes won the team championship in the Wushu match of provincial games for university students
Recently, the Wushu Match of the 11thGames for University Students in Guangdong Province came to a close in the South China University of Technology. The Wushu team of SZPT stood out of 27 higher vocational colleges and won the first place in the number of gold medals and total group score, becoming double winners again after the last session of the games. The chief coach Tian Guiju and the athletes Chen Yang and Lin Yilin won the “PE Morality Award” respectively.
Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 in Shenzhen, students could not return to school for training since the holiday of last semester to May 9, but the coaches made a detailed training plan for each team member. In addition to strictly following the epidemic prevention policy, students conducted training at home and voluntarily sought practice space in parks and martial arts clubs; meanwhile, the coaches provided regular intensive coaching for team members at the civic center square, and used a film and television base in Xixiang, Bao’an District for training from May 1 to 8. However, due to the lack of standardized practice venues, training quality and safety could not be effectively guaranteed, and a few days before the games, some team members had to quit because of training injuries.
Under adverse circumstances of no regular training and absence of three competition items due to training injuries of team members, Wushu students from SZPT conquered judges and audiences with their profound skills and excellent performances, and won the honor with the highest score and gold medal, which once again demonstrated the brand effect of SZPT Wushu to college teachers and students in the province, verified the remarkable achievement of SZPT Wushu education, and with 3 gold medals in the “Southern Fist” category, proved that the “Inheritance Base of Excellent Traditional Culture (Southern Fist) for Colleges and Universities in Guangdong Province” is worthy of the name.
